Strandbags: Where can I find this Australian bag shop?

Strandbags shops sell bags all across Australia, with shops in regional centres such as Gympie, Traralgon, Murray Bridge, Lismore and Busselton.

There are some common high street names in Australia that don’t translate all that well elsewhere, and Strandbags is a classic example.

This bags and luggage shop is regular presence on Australian shopping streets and malls. In fact, there are more than 300 Strandbags shops across the country, as well as an online shop.

The most prominent Strandbags store, however, is the one at the entrance to the Strand Arcade off Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall. Hence the name…

The company has been going since 1927, making it a stalwart of Australia’s shopping scene. The stores sell both designer and own brand handbags, plus luggage, business bags, backpacks and wallets.

Strandbags stores in regional Queensland include those in Kingaroy, Gympie, Maryborough, Yeppoon and Gladstone. South Australian shops are open in Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge, Victor Harbor and Whyalla. And, in Western Australia, there are Strandbags shops in the likes of Kalgoorlie, Bunbury, Busselton and Geraldton.
