Kingscliff Beach, NSW: Swimming, surfing & Faulks Park

Kingscliff Beach in New South Wales has surf lifesaver patrols, a surf school and Faulks Park – which includes barbecues and a good children’s playground.

Where is Kingscliff Beach?

Kingscliff Beach is the main beach in Kingscliff on the Tweed Coast of New South Wales. It is a section of the much longer Wommin Bay, which runs for 6.4km from Fingal Head to the Kingscliff Seawall on Cudgen Headland.

It is the southern part of Wommin Bay that is known as Kingscliff Beach. Further north, it is called Dreamtime Beach.

Is it safe to swim at Kingscliff Beach?

Kingscliff Beach isn’t exactly the safest beach in New South Wales. There are plenty of rips, and a current that pulls swimmers northwards. However, it is patrolled by lifesavers from the Cudgen Headland Surf Club. Stay between the red and yellow flags and you should be fine.

Is the surfing at Kingscliff Beach any good?

Kingscliff Beach is popular with surfers. At the far south, more experienced surfers can take on the reef breaks near the mouth of Cudgen Creek.

For beach breaks, the section in front of Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club is justifiably popular.

If you’ve never surfed before, Kingscliff Beach is a decent place to learn. In2Surf runs beginner lessons.

Faulks Park at the southern end of Kingscliff Beach offers public barbecues, picnic tables and toilets. There’s also a good playground here, although there are also a couple of smaller playgrounds further north along the beach.
