Mudjimba Beach near Sunshine Coast Airport: Is it worth visiting?

Mudjimba Beach is one of the longest beaches on the Sunshine Coast. It has plentiful free parking, good accommodation options, and is handily close to Sunshine Coast Airport for early arrivals and late departures.

Mudjimba Beach might well be the most underrated beach on Queensland‘s Sunshine Coast. While most visitors focus on Mooloolaba, Noosa and Coolum, Mudjimba Beach is something of an in-the-know local favourite.

The first reason to visit Mudjimba Beach is that it’s extremely close to the Sunshine Coast Airport in Marcoola. We’re talking a two minute drive, here. Therefore, Mudjimba Beach is an excellent choice if you’ve arrived early at Sunshine Coast Airport and need to kill a bit of time before checking into your accommodation. The same applies in reverse – go for a bit of beach time after you’ve checked out and before your flight.

Surfing, swimming and fishing at Mudjimba Beach

This isn’t the safest of swimming beaches, as there can be strong rips. Either try a more swimmer-friendly beach such as Kings Beach in Caloundra, or stick to the area between the flags at the Mudjimba Surf Club. This part of the beach is patrolled every day by life guards.
