Narracan Falls, Latrobe Valley: Swimming, parking & picnics

The pool beneath Narracan Falls near Moe, Victoria, offers one of the best swimming holes in Gippsland’s Latrobe Valley. There’s also a picnic area for Gippsland road-trippers.

Narracan Falls in Gippsland, Victoria, is hardly the most impressive waterfall in Australia. But it is a pretty spot, and a decent option for a diversion off the Princes Highway on the drive from Warragul to Traralgon. It’s certainly one of the best waterfalls near Traralgon.

This Victorian waterfall falls under the category of local in-the-know beauty spot rather than being a bucket list attraction for overseas visitors. But it’s the sort of lovely addition you can add to a road trip and have a thoroughly enjoyable time at.

Swimming at Narracan Falls, Victoria

The Narracan Falls height is hardly worth boasting about – there’s only a drop of five metres. But several channels pour over the rocks, making this Victorian waterfall look pretty rather than impressive.

The real appeal of this Latrobe Valley waterfall is in the swimming hole at the bottom. On a hot day, the pool at the foot of Narracan Falls is a delight for an al fresco wild swim.

Other waterfalls in Victoria worth visiting include Erskine Falls near Lorne on the Great Ocean Road, Buckley Falls near Geelong and Toorongo Falls near Noojee.
