What is the Rockhampton Heritage Village?

The Rockhampton Heritage Village is one of the top tourist attractions in Rockhampton, Queensland. Owned and managed by Rockhampton Regional Council, this is an open air museum that attempts to show off the area’s past.

Specifically, it concentrates on the history between 1850 and 1950, and has collected old buildings from around the region together in one place.

Historic buildings at Rockhampton Heritage Village

This cobbled-together township features a blacksmith shop, a series of homesteads and cottages and a timber-cutters’ camp. Visitors will also encounter a hall of clocks, a collection of vintage vehicles and plenty of all machinery.

There’s also a church, a shearing shed and a wagon works.

Perhaps more appealing than the buildings themselves is the setting. The Rockhampton Heritage Village is set amongst 10 hectares of bushland. Kids, in particular, tend to enjoy running around then meeting the farm animals.

Entry to the Rockhampton Heritage Village costs $5. As for opening hours, the Rockhampton Heritage Village is open from 10.00 to 16.00 every day, except public holidays. Last entry is at 15.00.
