Bodega Underground: Is this Melbourne’s best Mezcal bar?
Bodega Underground on Little Bourke Street specialises in mezcal and tacos. But this Mexican restaurant in Melbourne also caters well to vegans.
Bodega Underground in Melbourne offers Mexican food and mezcal on Little Bourke Street. A small, subterranean joint, Bodega Undergound feels like one of those fantastic little finds that makes Melbourne such an exciting city to hang out in.
Bodega Underground: Melbourne mezcal bar
This taste of Mexico in Melbourne does offer an ample tequila list, but the focus is very much on mezcal. Tequila is technically a type of mezcal – it’s made from a specific type of agave. But mezcal covers a much bigger range of flavours, although it tends to get pigeonholed as a smokier version of tequila.
Bodega Underground on Little Bourke Street serves up plenty of smoky mezcals, but it does offer a much wider range than that. You’ll find 70-odd different bottles stacked up behind the bar.
