Shepparton to Yarrawonga drive: Katamatite attractions

At Congupna, leave the highway, branching on the Katamatite-Shepparton Main Road. It’s mainly agricultural land as you pass through Marungi and Invergordon. Before arriving in Katamatite, you’ll join the Katamatite-Nathalia Road. This passes over Broken Creek and enters Katamatite.

Katamatite is hardly the most exciting place in the world, but the Dookie-Katamatite Rail Line Bushland Reserve is fairly pleasant and the giant murals on the grain silos are unquestionably impressive.

Just before Boosey Creek, join the Benalla-Tocumwal Road, which runs through the town centre. The Tin Shed Restaurant, Bar and Bakery is a decent spot for a bite to eat.

Once through Katamatite, the Katamatite-Yarrawonga Road will bring you into Yarrawonga. The town is based around Lake Mulwala on the Murray River, with water sports being the chief attraction.
