David Whitley, travel journalist

David Whitley, travel journalist

David Whitley is the author and creator of Australia Travel Questions. He is a freelance travel journalist who specialises in Australia, and is used by publications all over the world as an Australia expert.

David first visited Australia in 2001 on a working holiday visa. He ended up staying for five years, editing a magazine for backpackers. While doing this, he also branched out into writing freelance travel pieces for Australian newspapers.

Since returning to the UK from Australia, he has travelled Down Under twice a year, barring that unfortunate period where Covid shut the country time. He has covered most of the country in the last two decades, from Sydney Harbour to Kakadu National Park, and the Great Barrier Reef to Rottnest Island. His knowledge of Australia’s odd little corners is generally higher than that of most Australians.
