The best things to do in Colo Heights, NSW, are cycling the Womerah Range Trail and walking along Bob Turner’s Track to the Colo River.

Colo Heights, NSW, is a small village in the Hawkesbury region just north of Sydney. It is surrounded by heavily-forested national parks and state conservation areas.

The Wollemi National Park, Yenga National Park and Dharug National Park are all around Colo Heights, as is the Parr State Conservation Area.

It will come as no surprise to learn, therefore, that the best things to do in Colo Heights are bushwalking and camping.

In the Parr State Conservation Area, the Heartbreak Hill campground offers basic camping with limited facilities. The 48km Womerah Range Trail – a tough track for either walkers or mountain-bikers – also passes through.

Considerably less daunting is Bob Turner’s Track in the Wollemi National Park. This walking trail is 7.7km long, and a good introduction to the wilderness area around the Colo River. The car park is along a dirt road just past the Colo Heights service station.

Bob Turner’s Track is not an easy walk, but the track is well-maintained and signposted. It’s steep in places, and getting down to the Colo River is easier than coming back.

The reward for the hard work comes at the river, however. There’s a gorgeous little beach at the end of the track, and it’s a beautiful spot for a swim.
