Forrest Beach is a small community on the North Queensland coast. The nearest town is Ingham, and you’ll find it on the drive from Townsville to Cairns.

This is a quiet coastal community with very little to do, but with cracking views out towards Orpheus Island and the Palm Islands.

Is it safe to swim at Forrest Beach, Queensland?

The main attraction in Forrest Beach, of course, is the beach itself. Unusually for beaches in this part of the world, it is a beach patrolled by lifeguards. There’s also a stinger net to protect from marine stingers.

Forrest Beach is easily far enough north to be crocodile territory, and crocodiles have been spotted here. Fortunately, they are rare, and the patrolling of the beach helps. If a croc turns up – and they generally prefer murky estuaries to beaches – it is usually removed pretty quickly.

Things to do at Forrest Beach, Queensland: Surfing

Forrest Beach, unusually for a beach this far north in Queensland, does get some surf. It’s hardly Bells Beach or Bawley Point, but you can catch a wave here.

The other activity at Forrest Beach worth considering include an Aboriginal cultural experience at Mungalla Station. These tours take in the Indigenous history of the area, as well as practices such as boomerang-throwing.
