Where is Mogo, NSW?

Mogo, NSW, is a small town on the Princes Highway between Batemans Bay and Moruya. This pretty, quirky little town has a gold-mining past and is known for its collection of independent shops, cafés and galleries.

Until the 1990s, Mogo was little more than a dormant hamlet. But then craftspeople and artists started arriving, the vibe changed and the village grew.

Top of the list of things to do in Mogo, NSW, however, is the Mogo Wildlife Park. Formerly known as Mogo Zoo, this NSW South Coast wildlife park supposedly hosts the largest collection of endangered and exotic animal species in Australia.

There are more than 250 animals at Mogo Wildlife Park, which mercifully came out of the 2019 bushfires intact. These creatures include Rothschild’s giraffes, snow leopards, white lions and western lowland gorillas.

The Mogo Wildlife Park offers a variety of feeding encounters and keeper talks. More unusually, it also offers a two day wildlife photography course.

Other things to do in Mogo, NSW, include the Mogo Bushwalk. This easy-going 1.6km trail passes through wet and dry eucalypt forests. You’ve got a good chance of spotting swamp wallabies and lyrebirds along the way.

Head a little further out of town, and the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden is on the road from Batemans Bay. If you branch off the Princes Highway, there are also a series of beach settlements along the coast. Those worth a look for some quality beach time include Barlings Beach at Tomakin, Mossy Point and Broulee.
