Bacchus Marsh in Victoria isn’t really the sort of place that is going to cross the radar of most overseas visitors. Like its neighbour to the north-west of Melbourne, Melton, Bacchus Marsh is essentially a satellite town. It’s the sort of place that offers relatively cheap housing, but within a reasonable commuting distance of the big city.

The Bacchus Marsh population is, therefore, growing fairly rapidly, but the fledgling city will eventually be swallowed up by Melbourne.

Tourists are likely to pass through Bacchus Marsh on the Melbourne to Ballarat drive along the Western Freeway. If you don’t want to plough straight on through to Ballarat to see Sovereign Hill and the Ballarat Wildlife Park, there are two areas of natural beauty right on the doorstep.
