Things to do in Port Neill: Beaches

The beach is the main attraction in Port Neill. The main beach is a white sand affair, stretching for about 1km. It starts facing north, then curves to face east, but rarely attracts significant ocean swell.

Cape Burr protects the beach, making it a fairly safe place to swim, even though there are no lifeguard patrols.

The best swimming is north of the Port Neill Jetty. There’s a park with barbecues, picnic tables, a toilet block and a playground by the jetty.

Port Neill Surfers Beach

Back Beach – or Surfers Beach – is on the southern side of Cape Burr. It faces south-east and gets bigger waves. There are rips here when the waves get sizable, so swimmers are best off leaving it to the surfers.

Other things to do in Port Neill include walking the Lady Kinnaird walking trail along the coast towards the Port Neill Golf Course. This is a nine hole and, frankly, poor quality course.

You can also go for a beer or two in the Port Neill Hotel.
