South Australia town and city guides

South Australia town and city guides

If planning a holiday in South Australia, these SA town and city guides should help you put together the perfect itinerary.

South Australia is not a destination that has much call for city guides. There are several places in the state that claim to be cities, but when you look at the population stats, these claims are clearly risible.

In terms of cities in South Australia, there’s realistically a list of one: Adelaide. The SA state capital absolutely drowns any other settlement.

Medium-sized towns in South Australia

That said, South Australia does have a decent smattering of towns. Some of them are delightful, others functional. And there are some in between that have a couple of attractions to keep you occupied if you happen to be passing through.

Australia Travel Questions is in the process of researching and writing up guides to the most interesting towns in South Australia. Some of them are beach towns, some of them are weird outback settlements, some of them are on the main highways and are more or less unavoidable.

The idea is that you can read through the guides, see which South Australian towns spark your interest, then string a few of them together in a road trip itinerary. More will be added in time, including some of those that the South Australian Tourism Commission suspect you’ll probably not bother with.
