Things to do in Dromana, Victoria: Beach and Foreshore Reserve

If you want beach time, Dromana Beach is perfectly decent, with the bay waters usually being suitably calm for swimming. Behind it, the Dromana Foreshore Reserve offers picnic spots, walking tracks, colourful beach boxes and a limited amount of camping. There are also plenty of shops and cafés along Point Nepean Road.

If you want heritage, then the Dromana and District Historical Society Museum provides the obligatory small town museum dose of old photographs and rusty farm equipment.

But the best things to do in Dromana are set back from the beach. First up is Heronswood, home of the Diggers Club gardening community. This handsome old historic home comes with a couple of acres of beautifully-presented gardens.

Heronswood is really just an appetiser for Dromana’s top attraction, however. Arthurs Seat is the highest point on the Mornington Peninsula. It’s hardly a mountain – this granite hill is only 314m high. But the walk up to Arthurs Seat State Park is something of a Mornington Peninsula rite of passage.
