The best walk in Jarrahdale is the Kitty’s Gorge Walk Trail, which goes into the Serpentine National Park. It passes several waterfalls on the way through Kitty’s Gorge and then Serpentine Gorge, finishing at Serpentine Falls.

The Kitty’s Gorge Walk Trail has signposts along the way, and has a rating somewhere between grade 3 and grade 4. It’s 14km long, and should take around five hours. Just beware – most of the way back from Serpentine Falls is uphill.

Jarrahdale Railway Heritage Trail in Jarrahdale, WA

Another good walking option is the Jarrahdale Railway Heritage Trail. This follows the old railway built to service the lumber mills around Jarrahdale. Walking along it, you get a sense of how the mills kept moving once the area around them had been cleared.

The Jarrahdale Railway Heritage Trail is a 9.8km return walk, which passes historic trail markers, fab views of the Darling Scarp and bushland picnic spots. There’s one steep climb along the way.

For something considerably more taxing, the Munda Biddi Trail from Mundaring to Albany also passes through Jarrahdale. This is primarily designed for cyclists.
