The most notorious Junee attraction is the Monte Cristo Homestead. Built in 1885, this Victorian manor house has a reputation as being the most haunted building in Australia. This is a reputation that is thoroughly milked on the Saturday night ghost tours. It’s less fun visiting the Monte Cristo Homestead by day, but day tours are the bread and butter here.

Things to do in Junee, NSW: Junee Roundhouse Railway Museum

The Junee Roundhouse Railway Museum is, as the name suggests, built around a massive 1940s roundhouse. This was the last steam locomotive depot built in New South Wales. It’s now home to lots of locomotives and railway memorabilia.

Pete’s Hobby Railway is 2ft narrow gauge railway repurposing trains that once ploughed Queensland’s sugar cane fields. The short but ever-expanding track is on a private property, and the railway is very much a labour of love.

Junee accommodation options include the fairly central Junee Motor Inn and budget-friendly Junee Tourist Park.
