Things to do in Lancelin, WA: Surfing and fishing charters

If you want to treat it as a beach town, that’s perfectly acceptable. Lancelin Beach is the biggest option, and you can hire surfboards or stand-up paddleboards here for from $25. But Back Beach is the one notorious for getting the big swells – most keen surfers will head to Back Beach to test their mettle.

Other things to do in Lancelin include fishing charters. Reel Force Charters offers fishing charters, venturing out to the reef which makes Lancelin such a prime spot for fishing. Species found in the Indian Ocean waters around Lancelin include the ruby snapper, skip jack trevally, flounder, southern blue fin tuna and bass grouper. The full day fishing adventure, including all equipment, costs from $300 per person.

If you’re feeling sporty, then the Lancelin Golf Club and Lancelin Bowling Club should keep you occupied for a while. But Lancelin’s main attraction is the massive sand dune system behind the town.

Quad bike tours on the Lancelin dunes

4WD tours of the Lancelin sand dunes head up and down the dunes in a specially-converted bus. They also stop for a quick go at sandboarding, although if you really want to try sandboarding, you’re better off hiring a board from the dunes car park.

There are also Lancelin sandboarding tours. The twist with these tours is that you also get to ride along the dunes on a quad bike. The sand dune quad biking tours last around two-and-a-half hours, and cost from $119.
