Things to do in Lennox Head, NSW: Best attractions

The best things to do in Lennox Head, NSW, include surfing lessons, the boardwalk to the Pat Morton Lookout and swimming in Lake Ainsworth.

Things to do in Lennox Head, NSW: Surfing at Lennox Head beach

Lennox Head Beach is 7.2km and it was declared a National Surfing Reserve in 2007. The right hand point break is justifiably one of the most famous surf spots in Australia.

If you’ve never surfed before, help is at hand. Let’s Go Surfing runs two hour introductory surf lessons in Lennox Head, which cost $65 per person. These lessons are conducted in small groups of no more than six people, and the instructor should have you standing on your board in the water by the end of it.

Lennox Head attractions: Pat Morton Lookout

At the southern end of the beach, a 1.2km boardwalk leads up to the Pat Morton Lookout, which offers views up the coast towards Byron Bay.

During the cooler months, this is a great spot for seeing migrating whales.

What to do in Lennox Head: Lake Ainsworth

The other main attraction in Lennox Head is Lake Ainsworth, a shallow freshwater lake just behind the dunes. This lake has long been a popular spot with families – it’s a great swimming spot for younger children. You’ll also see paddleboarders and kayakers here, while facilities on the lake shore include walking paths, picnic tables and public barbecues.

Lennox Head accommodation options include the Reflections Lennox Head holiday park and the four star Lennox Beach Resort.
