Things to do in the Entrance, NSW: Beach and Ocean Baths

It’s a very family friendly area, with calm shoreline on the lake, and surf on the ocean beach.

Surf lifesavers patrol the Entrance Beach, so swim between the flags. If you fancy a safer swim, the Entrance Ocean Baths are at the southern end of the beach. There are three pools here – a 50 metre lap pool, a 22 metre pool and kids’ wading pool.

But unusually for a beach suburb, the action at the Entrance doesn’t focus entirely on the beach. Many of the best things to do in the Entrance are around the Entrance Channel. Several cafés and takeaways gather around Memorial Park, which has a playground and Vera’s Water Garden. This kiddy-friendly splash park has colourful statues surrounding it.

Things to do in the Entrance, NSW: Central Coast Pelican feeding

The famous Entrance pelican feeding takes place at the northern end of Memorial Park. At 3.30pm every day, fresh fish are thrown to the pelicans that like to hang out by the Entrance Channel. This is a tradition started by a local fish shop that has snowballed into a popular tourist attraction.

The Entrance Historic Carousel, a landmark as much as it is a children’s ride, stands strong just to the north of Memorial Park.

Central Coast walking and cycling trails

The lake side of the Entrance is quieter, but ideal for walking or cycling. The 7.6km Coast to Lake walk, connecting indie-inclined Long Jetty to beachy Toowoon Bay, follows the shore. The Tuggerah Lakes Cycleway, a 12km shared path around the lakeshore, also passes through. If you’ve not got your own bike, you can hire one from Boomerang Bikes in Memorial Park.
