Where is Waroona, WA?

That said, the boundaries of Waroona stretch surprisingly far east, crossing the Forrest Highway towards Lake Clifton and the Yalgorup National Park.

But if you’re going to visit Lake Clifton and the Yalgorup National Park, you’re better off driving down the Forrest Highway from Rockingham or Mandurah towards Australind and Bunbury, then stopping at Preston Beach.

The western half of Waroona is mostly farmland, but the eastern half is mostly hills and forest. And that eastern part is frankly more interesting. Things to do in Waroona include swimming at Drakesbrook Weir, walking at Lake Navarino and wine-tasting at Drakesbrook Wines.

Visit the Waroona Visitor Centre and Gallery to pick up information and browse local art, then drive south east towards Drakesbrook Weir. Also known as Lake Moyanup, Drakesbrook Weir is a great spot for picnics and barbecues. It’s also a swimming lake, and a marvellous spot to cool down on a hot day.

Head a little further east, and you’ll get the slightly bigger Lake Navarino. Created by Waroona Dam, Lake Navarino is popular with kayakers. But you can also do the picnics and swimming thing, and there are walking trails through the forest, too. You can camp overnight at the Lake Navarino Holiday Park.
