Yarragon, Victoria, is a small town on the Princes Highway. You’ll pass through on the drive from Warragul to Traralgon, or Melbourne to Bairnsdale.

As with many towns on the Princes Highway in Gippsland, Yarragon is not exactly a must-visit for visitors to Australia. But Yarragon is worth visiting as a decent pit stop on a longer road trip.

Things to do in Yarragon, Victoria: Antique shops and galleries

Yarragon, Victoria, is in the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges. This Gippsland town’s strengths arguably lie in the natural attractions nearby, but there are a few things to do in Yarragon.

The town has a smattering of antique ships, bookstores and art galleries. Yarragon, Victoria, is well-suited to slow-paced browsing. The Town and Country Art Gallery is arguably the top attraction.

There are also several pleasant parks in Yarragon, but Mount Worth State Park to the south is the top attraction.

Things to do in Yarragon, Victoria: Mount Worth State Park

Mount Worth State Park is forested stretch of the western Strzelecki Ranges, full of grey gum, blackwood and mountain ash trees. This Gippsland state park offer ferns growing in the gullies, plus decent wildlife-spotting opportunities. Lyrebirds are often seen scuttling along the forest floor.

Top walks in Mount Worth State Park include the 1.8km Giants Circuit. This Mount Worth State Park walk passes Standing Giant, a massive mountain ash tree that is thought to be more than 300 years old.

If it’s the tree ferns you want, try the Gardiners Mill track, which runs along Clark Creek for 3km.

If you’d just prefer to go for a picnic, try the Moonlight Creek Visitor Area.
