The Tangalooma Ferry connects Brisbane to the Tangalooma Island Resort on Moreton Island, Queensland. Unless you’ve got your own boat or helicopter, the ferry service is going to be the quickest and easiest way to get to the island.

The Tangalooma Island Resort Ferry, to give it the full name, shuttles between Holt Street Wharf in Brisbane and Moreton Island. The Tangalooma Ferry provides a transfer service for those staying at the resort, but Moreton Island daytrippers can book on too.

Tangalooma Ferry timetable

There are four Tangalooma ferry services per day from the Holt Street Wharf in Pinkenba. These depart at 8am, 10am, 12 noon and 5pm every day. The return services from the Tangalooma Island Resort Jetty depart at 10am, 2pm, 4pm and 7pm. The 7pm departure isn’t on a strict schedule. The ferry basically leaves following the evening dolphin feeding session that lures so many visitors to Moreton Island in the first place.

Which Moreton Island tour should I pick?

There are several Moreton Island tour options, most including the ferry transfer. Pick your tour based on the activities you want to do.

Tangalooma Ferry fare prices

The ferry takes around 75 minutes to make the crossing to Moreton Island. The return transfers cost $84, although you can package them up with all manner of tours. These include sandboarding adventures and snorkelling the Moreton Island shipwrecks. You can also hand-feed dolphins.

You don’t necessarily need to be staying at the Tangalooma Island Resort to use the ferry as an overnight visitor. Camping on Moreton Island is the cheaper way to stay, and there are several campgrounds around the island.
