On the second leg of the Adelaide to Port Pirie drive, from Port Wakefield to Port Pirie, there’s one clear highlight. The best road trip stop on the journey to Port Pirie is Lake Bumbunga, a lake which often turns pink courtesy of the algae in it.

Lake Bumbunga is next to the otherwise humdrum town of Lochiel. And, in terms of attractions, that’s about it before you reach Port Pirie.
