Charters Towers to Cloncurry road trip: Burra Range Lookout and Hughenden

The first leg of the Charters Towers to Cloncurry road trip is from Charters Towers to Hughenden. The best stop along the way is White Mountains National Park. 4WDers can take on the tracks to the Sawpit Gorge Lookout and Poison Valley. Everyone else will have to content themselves with the Burra Range Lookout on the Flinders Highway.

In Hughenden, you can learn about locally-unearthed dinosaurs at the Flinders Discovery Centre, view the volcanic plains from the Mount Walker lookouts or make a significant detour north to Porcupine Gorge.
