Cowra to Dubbo road trip: Distance, drive time & best stops

Cowra to Dubbo drive: Molong and Yeoval

If skipping Orange, you’ll continue along Peabody Road into Molong, which hosts a few Orange region wineries.

From Molong, Banjo Paterson Way heads to Dubbo through Cumnock and Yeoval. The latter is more interesting, as it is home to the Banjo Paterson Museum. This small museum celebrates Australia’s beloved poet and the writer of Waltzing Matilda.

From Yeoval, Obley Road heads into Dubbo via two of the town’s top attractions – the Dubbo Observatory and Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Buy zoo tickets online to skip the queues.

Other things to do in Dubbo include ghost tours at the Old Dubbo Gaol.

Dubbo accommodation options include the centrally-located Palms Dubbo Inn, roadtripper-friendly holiday park Discovery Parks Dubbo and the well-equipped Cattleman’s Country Inn and Serviced Apartments.
