Orange to Mudgee road trip: Wellington and beyond

After Molong, it’s a fundamentally dull stretch of the Mitchell Highway until you reach Wellington. Here, the Wellington Caves are the star attraction. Tours take you in to see the stalagmites and stalactites.

You leave the Mitchell Highway in Wellington, and the Orange to Mudgee drive continues along Goolma Road through some pretty darned anonymous countryside. There’s really not a lot to see until you get close to Mudgee and turn off Goolma Road into Guntawang Road, then the Castlereagh Highway.
