What is the Mall’s Balls?
Well, the Mall’s Balls is officially known as the Spheres. It’s an art installation featuring two steel spheres stacked on top of each other. Together, they’re about four metres tall, and the steel is polished to be reflective. This makes the Spheres a good spot for unusual-looking selfies. It’s effectively doing what Cloud Gate in Chicago was doing well before Chicago got the idea.
Interaction was always the aim of this artwork, which was installed by Vienna-born artist Bert Flugelman in 1977.
