The Kings Canyon caravan park is where many travellers will end up staying when they visit Kings Canyon in the Northern Territory’s Red Centre.
Officially known as the Discovery Parks – Kings Canyon Campground, this outback caravan park is part of the Kings Canyon Resort. Aside from the 1,800 square kilometre Kings Creek Station, this is the only place to stay near Kings Canyon.
Camping at Kings Canyon
Most people staying at the Kings Canyon caravan park will be camping or staying in caravans and motor homes. There are several pitches available for this, with the area for tents on a grassy section of the park.

Unpowered tent sites cost from $30. Unpowered motorhome sites cost from $45, while powered sites start at $55 per night.
If you want an en-suite site, that will cost you from $90 a night.
The Discovery Parks – Kings Canyon campground also offers some budget lodge rooms. These are private rooms, but with shared bathrooms, and they cost from $150 a night.
Kings Canyon caravan park facilities
The major bonus of staying at the Kings Canyon caravan park is that you can use the resort’s facilities. Crucially, given the hot weather, that means the pools. However, guests also have access to the barbecues, store, restaurant and bar. There’s also a tennis court, should you for some reason fancy a game in the middle of the desert.
Kings Canyon is a 324km drive from Uluru and a 328km drive from Alice Springs. The canyon is inside Watarrka National Park.
