Threeways Roadhouse, Northern Territory

Threeways Roadhouse, Northern Territory

The Threeways Roadhouse north of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory offers fuel, food and accommodation. It’s at the corner of the Stuart Highway and Barkly Highway.

The Threeways Roadhouse in the Northern Territory is not exactly the most glamorous spot in Australia. It’s one that a surprisingly high number of people will venture into, however.

One of the Stuart Highway roadhouses, the Threeways Roadhouse is situated at the junction with the Barkly Highway.

Given this is the only sealed road into the Northern Territory from Queensland, a lot of traffic comes through given the remote outback location. If you’re driving from Brisbane to Darwin, or Mount Isa to Alice Springs, you’ll go past the Threeways Roadhouse.

Where is Threeways Roadhouse?

This Northern Territory roadhouse is 25km north of Tennant Creek, and you’ll pass by on the Tennant Creek to Daly Waters section of the Adelaide to Darwin drive.

To most people, the Threeways Roadhouse is simply a fuel stop. Others might stock up on snacks and drinks while they’re at it, but there’s limited desire to stay longer.

There is, however, a restaurant section selling pretty basic meals. Don’t expect fine dining, but if you happen to be passing through at meal time, it might be mildly more appetising than crisps and chocolate.

Threeways Roadhouse accommodation

There’s also accommodation at the Threeways Roadhouse. Again, please don’t expect too much from this – it is functional at best, and is largely designed with truckers on overnight stops in mind. If you just need somewhere to lay your head, though, there are worse places in Australia.

Threeways Roadhouse otel rooms cost from $145, and for campers and caravanners, there are powered sites for from $42.

If heading east from Threeways Roadhouse, be aware that the next fuel stop is at Barkly Homestead, 187km away.
