How much does a Jurien Bay skydive cost?

In Western Australia, Jurien Bay skydive costs from $299. But you may want to pay extra for more freefall time and a video of you landing on the beach.

Jurien Bay in Western Australia, a couple of hours north of Perth, is one of the best places in Australia to do a skydive.

Skydive Jurien Bay has been operating in this west coast holiday town since 2009, and offers Jurien Bay skydives from different heights. Guests can jump from 8,000ft, 10,000ft or 14,000ft.

Jurien Bay skydive: How it works

No experience is necessary to do a tandem skydive in Jurien Bay. After a safety briefing, participants are strapped with secure harnesses to an experienced skydiving instructor. You then go up in the plane, and jump out. The instructor effectively stays on your back all the way down, in control of when to open the parachute, and the steering towards the drop zone.

Freefall and beach landing

There are two different phases to the Jurien Bay skydive once out of the plane. First comes the adrenalin rush of freefalling. This is about pure G-Force as you fall through the sky, cheeks flapping. The length of the freefall segment depends on the height you jump from. The higher the jump, the more freefall you get.

After the parachute opens, it’s a very different experience. The descent is much slower, and you have the opportunity to take in your surroundings. The Jurien Bay skydive becomes more of a scenic flight as you drift back to earth.

It’s in this phase of the skydive that the location comes into its own, with the blues and teals of the ocean lining up against the coastline. And then you come in to land on the beach.

Weather-wise, winter is the best time to skydive in Jurien Bay as skies are clear and winds are low. Skydive Jurien Bay also operates in summer, but only in the mornings when the winds are lower.
