Pinot and Picasso in Australia: Where to do art and wine classes

Pinto and Picasso mixes painting with wine-tasting and operates studios across Australia in places including Wollongong, Bundaberg, Ballarat and Glenelg.

Pinot and Picasso in Australia is an unusual group experience. The basic premise is that friends get together to drink wine, but learn to paint at the same time.

The Pinot and Picasso studio is hired out for three hours, and the group gets instruction on painting techniques. By the end of the three hours, everyone has created their own masterpiece – or at least their attempt at one.

Pinot and Picasso: BYO wines

The twist is that while everyone is painting, the tunes are paying and everyone’s sipping wine. The wine isn’t provided – it works on a BYO basis. But you essentially bring your favourite bottle from home, and share it with friends while indulging your creative streak.

Pinot and Picasso originally started at a small studio in Penrith, Western Sydney. But the idea caught on quickly, and has spread fast with a franchising operation.

Pinot and Picasso in New South Wales and Queensland

Pinot and Picasso locations elsewhere in Sydney include Gladesville, Maroubra, Marrickville and Rouse Hill. There are also paint and sip sessions elsewhere in the state, in places such as Terrigal, Port Macquarie, Orange, Dubbo and Wollongong.

There are also plenty of Pinot and Picasso classes in Queensland. Options include Townsville, Buderim, Ipswich, Bundaberg, Noosa and Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.

Pinot and Picasso in Victoria, SA and WA

There aren’t quite as many painting with wine experiences in Victoria. But you can still try it out in Brunswick, Malvern and Melbourne CBD. Outside of Melbourne, there are studios in Geelong, Shepparton, Ballarat and Bendigo, amongst others.

In South Australia, you can try at Henley Beach, Norwood and Glenelg, while the Western Australia studios are in Perth CBD, Fremantle and Victoria Park.

In Tasmania, Pinot and Picasso has outposts in Hobart and Launceston, while in the Australian Capital Territory, there’s one in Belconnen. For a full list of venues, visit the company website.
