Albury to Echuca drive: Ulupna Island and Barmah National Park

For a bit of wildlife-spotting, Ulupna Island near Tocumwal is an excellent stop between Albury and Echuca. Koalas and kangaroos are prevalent here, but you’ll also see plenty of birdlife. The beaches on the bends of the Murray are worth a paddle too.

Ulupna Island is at the eastern end of Barmah National Park, which has several excellent walking trails through the river red gum forest. The 1.5km Yamyabuc Discovery Trail is a winner if on a limited time frame. It gives several strong insights into local Indigenous culture.
