Tahune Airwalk, Tasmania: Location, walkway height & ticket prices

The Tahune Airwalk in the Tahune Forest Reserve passes through Huon pine forest, 30 metres above the ground. The nearest town is Geeveston, although it can be visited as a day trip from Hobart.

The Tahune Airwalk is the most famous attraction in the Tahune Forest Reserve, Tasmania. This forest walkway is elevated 30 metres above ground, although the real highlight comes at the end.

The final section of the Tahune Airwalk is cantilevered over the Huon River, 50 metres above the water. From there, you can see the confluence of the Huon and Picton Rivers, as well as the rising mountains of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

Where is the Tahune Airwalk?

The Tahune Airwalk is in the Tahune Forest Reserve, about half an hour west of Geeveston, Tasmania. The drive from Hobart is about 88km long, but it’s not exactly a speedy route, and the journey should take about one hour and 24 minutes.

This Tasmanian forest skywalk is part of Tahune Adventures, which also offers two other walks as part of the entry price. The Huon Pine Walk, as should be fairly obvious, heads through the Huon Pines. No prizes for guessing what the Swinging Bridge Walk is all about, either.

How long is the Tahune Airwalk?

But the Tahune Airwalk is the centrepiece attraction at Tahune Adventures. And tackling it requires a basic degree of fitness. The walk is only 619 metres long, but you will have to get up 104 reasonably gradual steps to get there.
