Uluru drone show: Wintjiri Wiru experience prices
The new Uluru drone show – the Wintjiri Wiru experience – sees more than 1,000 drones light up the night sky in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Australia. Prices start at $190.
There’s no shortage of activities at Uluru in the Northern Territory’s Red Centre. Already on offer are Segway tours around the base, outback helicopter flights and the Field of Light installation.
However, as of May 2023, there is now a spectacular new option – the Wintjiri Wiru experience.
What is the Wintjiri Wiru experience?
The Wintjiri Wiru experience is a sound, light and drone show, which takes place on a special desert dune platform, offering views of Uluru and Kata-Tjuta on the horizon.
The architectural steel separating the various seating levels of the platform features artwork from local Anangu artist and community member, Christine Brumby, which has been cut into elements and backlit for maximum impact.

The experience is enhanced by more than 1,000 luminous drones that will take flight each night, creating an enchanting display of choreography and technological visual artistry.
This Uluru drone show uses state-of-the-art drone and laser light technology, but the key element is arguably the ancient Anangu storytelling.
The story behind the Uluru drone show
The show is inspired by the Mala ancestral story, which has been preserved by the Anangu people, one of the oldest living continuous cultures in the world.
The Anangu custodians of this chapter of the Mala story have collaborated closely with Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia to bring the Wintjiri Wiru experience to life.
This once-in-a-lifetime dune-top dinner experience, with special stargazing session included, is our top Uluru recommendation.
The name means ‘beautiful view out to the horizon’ in the local Anangu language.
The drones depict aspects of the Mala story, accompanied by a narration in Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara languages. The soundtrack includes traditional inma, which has been recorded with members of the local Anangu community.
