Wanneroo Markets, Perth: Stalls and opening hours

The Wanneroo Markets in Perth’s northern suburbs have some good food stalls, bohemian clothing and arty trinkets. But visitors will probably prefer the Fremantle Markets.

The Wanneroo Markets are a little out of the way for most visitors to Perth. The most tourist-friendly markets in the Western Australian capital are the Fremantle Markets in Fremantle.

That’s not to say that the Wanneroo Markets aren’t worth considering, however. They’re not as polished, but they are a local institution offering the largest fruit and vegetable selection in Western Australia.

Wanneroo Markets food stalls

Food is the primary reason people come to the Wanneroo Markets, but not just in the food to take home sense. This bastion of Perth’s northern suburbs is also a place to eat, with a sizable selection of food court-esque stalls. Options include Hawker’s Delight, which serves Malaysian-Chinese cuisine, and Turkish specialist Kobani Kebab and Gozleme.

Elsewhere, you probably shouldn’t expect all that much from the fashion stalls, although there is some bohemian clothing on offer. But the Wanneroo Markets are fab for little trinkets, homeware items and decorative gifts. Mivian designs offers arty coasters and bean bags, Eurekaseeker makes wall art out of metal and Akwaaba specialises in handmade African goods, including baskets and djembas.
