Shoal Bay Country Club: Why should I visit this Port Stephens pub?

The Shoal Bay Country Club in Port Stephens has a spectacular beachside location. It also offers two restaurants, live music, and plenty of entertainment.

The Shoal Bay Country Club in Port Stephens is one of New South Wales’ classic beachside pubs. Located at the front end of the Shoal Bay Ramada Resort, the Shoal Bay Country Club looks north over Shoal Bay Wharf.

Shoal Bay Country Club location

The location is a major part of the appeal. You can walk off Shoal Bay beach into the Shoal Bay Country Club, and have a beer in front of you in next to no time. But you’re also just east of the Nelson Bay lighthouse and just west of Tomaree Head. It’s a rather attractive frame. Indeed, it’s this setting that makes Shoal Bay more popular than Port Stephens alternatives, such as Salamander Bay and Anna Bay.

The Shoal Bay Country Club is a very popular wedding venue, and hosts live music on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There are plenty of events throughout the rest of the week, too. These include poker contests on Monday nights, a trivia quiz on Thursday and pool and darts competitions on Tuesdays.

Shoal Bay Country Club food menu

The Shoal Bay Country Club is one of the most popular places in Port Stephens to eat, partly because it has two restaurants. Of these, Atmos has a Greek theme, with dishes such as slow-cooked lamb shoulder, eggplant moussaka and pork souvlaki.

The Kitchen and Patio is where most visitors are likely to end up, however. Here you can go posh and eat Darling Downs wagyu rump steaks or Port Stephens oysters. But you can also get beer-battered fish and chips, a chicken parma or a woodfired pizza.
