Adelaide to Brisbane drive: Nyngan to Walgett

Next comes a dull 131km stint from Cobar to Nyngan, where you can at least get your photo taken with the Big Bogan.

Nyngan accommodation options include the Alamo Motor Inn, which is limited, but at least offers barbecue facilities.

Nyngan is also where you say goodbye to the Barrier Highway, and embark on an annoyingly squiggly 235km drive to Walgett. This is mainly along Carinda Road and Cumberdoon Way.

The Burrima Boardwalk in the Macquarie Marshes Nature Reserve is the main worthwhile distraction on the route.
