Canberra to Bermagui drive: Cooma to Bermagui section

The Monaro Highway and Snowy Mountains Highway run concurrently from Cooma until you reach Steeple Flat.

Stick to the Snowy Mountains Highway and pass through the Glenbog State Forest. The Pipers Lookout is the top spot to pull over for a few photos.

Keep going until you join the Princes Highway. To the south is Bega, where you can enjoy the Bega Lookout and Bega Cheese Heritage Centre.

But Bermagui is to the north. The Princes Highway skirts the edge of Mumbulla Mountain and Biamanga National Park before reaching Cobargo. Here, turn down the Cobargo-Bermagui Road and head through the Bermagui State Forest. The Wallaga Lake Road will take you past Moorhead Beach, over the Bermagui River and into Bermagui.

Things to do in Bermagui include taking a tour to Montague Island and swimming in the Blue Pool.
