By car, the distance from Gympie to Rainbow Beach is 73km. You can expect a driving time of around 51 minutes. Most drivers will likely be branching off the Bruce Highway just before Lake Alford, but if coming from the centre of Gympie, you’ll go past the idiosyncratic Gympie Bone Museum on the Gympie Connection Road.

Gympie to Rainbow Beach drive: Tin Can Bay Road

The Gympie to Rainbow Beach drive then joins the Tin Can Bay Road. Fairly soon, you’ll go past Goomboorian National Park, which is a wetland not really set up for tourists. The more intrepid can still go for a walk there, however.

Shortly afterwards, the Goomborian Travel Stop offers an opportunity to stock up on fuel and snacks. But you’re better off saving yourself for the Sublime Farm and Brewery, which offers beers made on site, pretty gardens and a restaurant selling local produce.
