Mount Isa to Daly Waters road trip: The Stuart Highway leg
The Tennant Creek to Daly Waters stretch of the Mount Isa to Daly Waters drive is 407km long. It’s almost all along the Stuart Highway, and roadside attractions are very limited.
The Renner Springs Desert Inn, 160km north of Tennant Creek, is a plausible stop, although birdwatchers will probably prefer the Lake Woods Conservation Covenant further along the highway.
Daly Waters is a great place to spend the night, largely because it is home to the Daly Waters Pub. This classic outback pub, covered in bank notes, postcards and underwear from all over the world, serves up steaks and live music to go with the cold beers.
