Roma to Longreach drive: Augathella to Barcaldine

Further along the drive from Charleville to Longreach, you come to Tambo and Blackall. Tambo is home to Tambo Teddies, which makes soft toys from local wool. Things to do in Blackall, meanwhile, include swimming at the Blackall Aquatic Centre, where the pool is fed by an artesian bore.

Blackall has arty leanings, too, with sculptures and art installations around the town. The Blackall Wool Scour is worth a visit, too – it tells the story of the local wool industry.

The Roma to Charleville drive meets the Tropic of Capricorn near Barcaldine, where the Capricorn Highway meets the Landsborough.
