The Highway then flanks the Illawarra Escarpment towards Wollongong past Helensburgh. The Symbio Wildlife Park in Helensburgh is a good road trip stop here, especially if you’re travelling with kids who love native Australia wildlife.

On the south side of Wollongong, the Princes Highway goes through Albion Park. It then goes near legendary surfer haven Killalea Beach and runs through Kiama. Here, the Bombo Headland has incredible basalt columns and the ocean crashes through a hole in the rocks at the Kiama Blowhole.
