Sydney to Merimbula road trip: Distance, drive time & best stops

Sydney to Merimbula drive: South of Ulladulla

The next stretch of the Sydney to Merimbula road is the 55km stint from Ulladulla to Batemans Bay. You’ll start by going past Racecourse Beach towards Dolphin Point. The Burrill Lake Rock Cave is a trifling detour off the highway.

The route then heads through Meroo National Park, with Wairo Beach and Lake Tabourie amiable stops.

There are several more feasible beach stops within the national park – Sunburnt Beach and Termeil Beach are arguably the best options. The Meroo Lake walking track should keep the more active happy.

The next good detour is Bawley Point, a legendary surf spot. The Murramarang Aboriginal Area Walking Track is just to the south.

Further south along the coast, you’ll reach Kioloa – home of the Merry Beach Caravan Park – and Murramarang National Park. There are several walks and beaches, but the main attraction is Pebbly Beach, where kangaroos hang out on the sand.

South Durras and Batemans Bay

There are more roos around South Durras, where the NRMA Murramarang Resort on Mill Beach is a cracking place to stay with the kids.

From there, it’s not far before you cross the Batemans Bay Bridge into Batemans Bay.
