Why visit Dunk Island?

Dunk Island off the coast of Mission Beach, Queensland, is one of the more underrated islands along the Queensland coast. Once upon a time, this island was a popular holiday spot, but Cyclone Yasi in 2011 ripped through the resort. It has not reopened since.

Since Cyclone Yasi, Dunk Island has taken on a different role as something of a natural haven. Visitors come here to camp on an island or take the 7km return track to Mt Kotaloo.
