Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures: Cairns croc farm location & prices

Hartley’s Crocodile Farm (aka Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures) between Cairns and Port Douglas is one of the best places in Queensland to see crocodiles.

What is Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures?

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is a crocodile farm turned wildlife park. This Port Douglas crocodile farm is one of the most exciting attractions in far north Queensland. It is often known as Hartley’s Crocodile Farm.

Book your mobile-friendly Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures ticket here. Or visit as part of a half day tour from Cairns.

Where is Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures?

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is in Wangetti, about halfway between Cairns and Port Douglas on the drive from Cairns to Cape Tribulation. It is very close to both the Rex Lookout and Wangetti Beach

This far north Queensland crocodile farm is a popular stop on the Cairns to Port Douglas drive for tour buses. And, as the name suggests, Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures focuses on big saltwater crocodiles.

Unlike many Australian wildlife parks, Hartley’s Crocodile Farm puts a major emphasis on shows and presentations. This is understandable given which creatures are centre of attention. Wandering around hand-feeding kangaroos works considerably better than having roaming crocodiles.

Hartley’s Crocodile Farm animal encounters

That’s not to say there aren’t other animals at this Cairns crocodile farm, however. Breakfast With The Koalas is a popular paid-for add-on encounter.

But most people have come to Hartley’s Crocodile Farm to see the big crocs, and the activity programme is built around them. At 9am and 1pm, there’s a crocodile farm tour, showing how the site works and where everything is. Then, after the snake shows at 10am and 2pm, come the crocodile shows. These aim to show off the terrifying majesty of saltwater crocodiles. Keepers get in the enclosures with the crocs, feeding them while staying very nimble on their feet to avoid being eaten alive.

Cairns crocodile farm: Cruises on Hartley’s Lagoon

Also on offer are cruises of Hartley’s Lagoon, which allow you to see crocodiles in their natural habitat.

As with most Australian wildlife parks there are, of course, extra animal encounters that you can shell out for. The aforementioned Breakfast With The Koalas package sees a koala brought out to join you as you eat breakfast overlooking the lagoon. This package costs $68, though be aware you’ll have to pay extra to have your photo taken holding the koala. The price includes park entry, as does the $140 cost of the Big Croc Feed.

The Big Croc Feed at Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures allows you to dangle meat on a pole into the crocodile enclosure. The croc will usually jump up and snatch the meat away.

Port Douglas crocodile farm entry prices

Without the special add-ons, entrance to Hartley’s Crocodile Farm costs $43. You can book tickets online with instant, queue-avoiding, straight-to-your-phone confirmation.
