Where is Adelaide’s tallest building?

The Frome Central Tower One is in Adelaide’s increasingly rejuvenated East End. It’s on the corner of Frome Street and Tavistock Lane, and is 37 stories tall. It’s a short walk from the Mall’s Balls and Adelaide Arcade on Rundle Mall, or the heritage buildings of North Terrace.

The Crowne Plaza Adelaide is the best known occupant of the building, but this only goes up to the 20th floor. The main reception level, curiously, is on Level 10.

Crowne Plaza Adelaide hotel review

The Crowne Plaza Adelaide is a relatively new hotel. It opened in 2020 and is unashamedly a business hotel. The standard entry level rooms are solid and well kitted-out, with floor to ceiling window, open rail wardrobe and large wall-mounted TVs.

If you want the in-room compendium, you’ll need to scan a QR code. But there are big comfy mattresses.

The standard rooms are perhaps on the smallish side, covering around 28 square metres.

Crowne Plaza Adelaide pool

The Crowne Plaza Adelaide does have a rather cool infinity pool, too. It’s by no means huge, but it’s not a bad effort given that it’s in the city centre. There’s also a bar next to the pool, and the water is heated to 28 degrees Celsius.

There are some rather impressive views out towards the Adelaide Hills from the pool.

The highest restaurant in Adelaide

At time of writing, the Crowne Plaza hotel is also home to the highest restaurant in Adelaide. Koomo is big on long, groups tables, light wood and Asian fusion food. It’s on the 10th floor of the hotel, so it’s not an insurmountable target for any restaurateurs wishing to claim the highest restaurant in Adelaide title.
