There’s plenty more to do in Port Stephens while you’re there. The Port Stephens dolphin-watching cruises from Nelson Bay are what put the region on the tourism map. You can swim with dolphins in Port Stephens, too.
Alternatively, enjoy walks in the Tomaree National Park, looking out over Cabbage Tree Island. There are some glorious – and much quieter – beaches within the national park. Try Samurai Beach, Fingal Beach or Box Beach.
There’s also the chance to get close to native animals at the Oakvale Wildlife Park and Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary. You can’t ride a koala, though, can you?
