Stockton Beach tends to be the centre of attention. But the Port Stephens region does have some pretty stunning beaches tucked away in the Tomaree National Park.

Samurai Beach: Nude bathing in Port Stephens

One of these is Samurai Beach, and you may see a few more swords than anticipated. Samurai Beach is the designated Port Stephens nude beach and it makes a change from sandboarding and 4WD dune tours.

Samurai Beach or One Mile Beach?

Samurai Beach is 1.1km long and forms a pair with neighbouring One Mile Beach. If you’re wanting to swim, One Mile Beach is a better bet in this part of Anna Bay, as the southern end is relatively safe and patrolled by lifeguards. Be careful in winter – the water temperature in Port Stephens can be considerably colder then.

Facing south-east, Samurai Beach has some menacing rips and often impressive beach breaks. This makes it more popular with surfers than swimmers. Four-wheel driving is allowed along this Port Stephens nude beach, so expect some impressive engines. (No, you stop it).

6 fantastic Port Stephens experiences worth going for.

  1. 4WD dunes tour with sandboarding – whizz down the Sahara-style dunes
  2. Dolphin-watching cruise with fun boom nets 🐬.
  3. Quad-biking over the Worimi sand dunes – learning about local Aboriginal culture along the way.
  4. Snorkelling with wild dolphins – the ultimate dolphin experience
  5. Port Stephens koala sanctuary admission tickets 🐨.
  6. Shallow water shark and ray encounter 🦈.
