But where is the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie? Well, coming from Melbourne, it is between the towns of Torquay and Anglesea. The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery has a large showroom, and a café. The café specialises in desserts, pastries and ice creams, but tries to use ingredients from the kitchen garden where possible.

Upon arrival at this Anglesea chocolate factory, there are three huge bowls of chocolate buttons. One’s milk chocolate, one’s dark chocolate, the other’s white chocolate. These are the freebies. Tuck in. Enjoy. Although if you want a slightly more in-depth tastings, try the daily hosted tasting sessions. These take place at 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. They’re bookable on the day, and cost $3 per person.

The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie produces 250 different chocolates, with flavours including raspberry liquorice and cookies and cream. Aniseed rings, white chocolate honeycomb and dark chocolate-covered sun-dried plums are among the other options.

Chocolate-making workshops in Bellbrae, Victoria

Should you want to go more in depth, this Great Ocean Road chocolate maker also runs several workshops. Probably the best bet is the one hour chocolate discovery class. For $48, this includes several chocolate and truffle tastings, plus an education on how chocolate is made. Participants get to make their own chocolate to take home, too.
